Eugene Bortnick - about the artist

	In March of 2003, Eugene's work was accepted for exhibition at The Heartland Artist Exhibition 2003 held at The Merriam Community Center. The work, entitled Elinor At The Door, was chosen from over 300 entries representing 23 states.

	Eugene's painting, Elinor #2, was one of 82 selected for exhibition at the 2003 Louisiana Watercolor Society 33rd International Exhibition. Jurist Katherine Chang Liu chose the painting from among 600 slides submitted.

	Eugene’s work titled Bruce Painting was judged an on exhibit for the The Kansas Watercolor Society 2003 Great 8 Exhibition, hosted by the Wichita Center for the Arts. The painting was chosen to receive the William R. C. Murphy Patron Purchase Award for the exhibit. The judge was Sondra Freckelton, who specializes in large-scale still life images, and is one of America’s foremost printmakers and watercolorists.

	In May of 2004, the Overland Park Arts Commission, in partnership with the Overland Park Convention Center, created an annual juried exhibition titled Art at the Center. Dr.Bortnick’s watercolor painting, Joe And The Kansas City Star, was awarded Juror’s Choice from over 450 entries by juror Julie Keller, editor-in-chief of Art Business News Magazine.
